Over the summer I took an extraordinary opportunity to visit China and was immediately impressed with one observation, they have no TSA.
Over the course of my trip I made at least six flights, the lines were long but rapidly moving. There was almost no wait.
When I visited Beijing, I learned that the Chinese treat Muslim citizens horrendously. They up root them at a moments notice and relocate them to other parts of the country. When the communities begin to take root and prosper, The Chinese Government swoops in and relocates them again in to some poverty ridden hell-hole. I guess that's what happens when private property rights are not respected.
I was naturally curious, with the terrible treatment bestowed upon the Muslim community, and lack of airport security, weren't the Chinese afraid of some 911 like event? The answer: not at all.
Why? It turns out that Terrorism in China is rare and mainly attributed to Xinjiang separatists including the East Turkestan Islamic Movement and Turkestan Islamic Party.
This was a little hard to fathom. Considering the close proximity of the cradle of terrorism (Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran) Why, would these terrorist avoid China almost completely, and fly all the way around the world to attack the U.S.?
Could it be because China has a strong Military at home defending it's borders? Maybe because the Chinese aren't occupying these regions? Both? I don't know, but it's something to think about.
