Paul rakes in money for straw poll effort

Republican Ron Paul's Iowa campaign chairman says Paul's get-out-the-vote effort for the Aug. 13 Ames straw poll is "among the most sophisticated I have ever witnessed."

Paul, a U.S. representative from Texas who is making his third run at the White House, is making a concentrated push to win the straw poll, a first test of campaign strength and candidate popularity.

The campaign raised $600,000 Tuesday in a "money bomb" fundraising effort it called "Ready, Ames, Fire," said Paul's Iowa campaign chairman, Drew Ivers. FULL STORY
